Jayleen 1918 Hotel is in a great location, in Clarke Quay area, very close to MRT station, Chinatown, and many attractions.
We paid a bit more for a room with window, overlooking the street. The noise level was acceptable. The room was on the small side, but clean and comfy, with luggage rack, and separate desk and vanity. The bathroom was good-sized, with a wonderful rainforest shower head. The towels, like the bedsheets, have seen better days, but soft and comfy. The bed is a bit too hard for my tastes, though.
Buffet breakfast is complimentary and includes: usual hot breakfast items like pancakes, scrambled eggs, baked beans, etc., as well as noodles & veggies; can also order fried eggs which sunny side up or plain omelet. There are also hard-boiled eggs and fruits. There are several kinds of bread and cakes, as well as an assortment of cereals, jams and drinks, in addition to coffee and tea. All in all, a good variety and you would have to be quite a picky eater to leave there still hungry!
What I liked most about the hotel is its rooftop, with a bird’s eye view of the heritage buildings around it, as well as a panoramic view of all the modern and iconic landmarks surrounding it. It was nice and quiet, never saw anyone when I was there, where it is a great place to meditate or check email while hubby was sleeping off his jet-lag after our 32-hour flights!
